Magic 12/15

Yesterday I became a 5 year old again. The boys I take care of (George 6yrs and Clay 4yrs ) had written letters to Santa over the weekend. They waited for me to go with them to mail them.

The boys live in a very nice neighborhood and not far down the road is the General Store that is attached to the post office.

Clay and I waited for George to get off the bus and then we all discussed the plan. George would take the purple scooter, Clay would take the red one and I could take the black one. (purple is my favorite color but I was not about to fight George for it)

We would mail the letters, grab a treat at the store and then scooter down to the playground a little further up the road.

Off we went. Razor scooters on the sidewalk letters in hand. It was a beautiful mission. I was alive and loving every minute of it.

The boys opened the door to the post office and there was a LONG line of adults….I panicked. They did not. I said “George do we have to wait in this line?” He and Clay basically ignored me, cut threw the line and as the people parted….in the corner there was this small, bright, red, shiny, beautiful mailbox just for Santa.

Then I noticed the adults in the line all watching the boys and grabbing some of their magic. It spread through that post office quickly. There were smiles and joy.

I am blessed beyond measure to be a part of this. To witness this beauty and to become in the moment, a child with hope and magic running through my veins. This is something I did not know was possible for me.

Thank you god.

I am a true addict living my life one day at a time in recovery. I have been substance free -meaning NO drugs or alcohol since 5/23/10. My intention is to share my experiences daily in the hopes to free others from the fears of being who they truly are. My wish is to bravely tell my truth so others can tell theirs as well. I want to be free of self hatred and doubt. I want to live a life of joy, kindness, love and grace. Thank you!

  2. This is so beautiful ❤️ I was at the post office today. The post master was in awful buhumbug mood. Customers upset because NO MORE holiday stamps. I wish I could have experienced this beauty today❤️🎄
