The power of a Smile 5/18

As of late I am noticing things that I have never even realized.

I think it was Wayne Dyer who said to try and meet each new day and every person as just that…new. No preconceived notions or judgements. Just fresh and new.

A clean slate every day. This is a great concept but definitely a bit tricky when this fast paced life starts coming at me.

This morning I noticed…really noticed that I am smiling a lot. I smile at everyone. I think formerly my eyes would shift to the ground and if the other was brave enough to smile, wave or say good morning…then I would respond.

Today I noticed I am completely smiling and connecting with the others. I was passing one woman on the trail and she was not smiling. I did not even realize that she was not smiling until after I smiled and said good morning and then her whole face lit up!

It’s contagious! I will be brave and smile and say hello first always from this point on.

It’s just good energy.

I am a true addict living my life one day at a time in recovery. I have been substance free -meaning NO drugs or alcohol since 5/23/10. My intention is to share my experiences daily in the hopes to free others from the fears of being who they truly are. My wish is to bravely tell my truth so others can tell theirs as well. I want to be free of self hatred and doubt. I want to live a life of joy, kindness, love and grace. Thank you!

  2. When I’m walking along our rural highway with my dog and a car approaches, I smile even though I can’t see the driver. I keep smiling until the car is past. It doesn’t matter if I recognize the car or not. Why? I reason that seeing an old lady on the highway with a scowl on her grizzled face might be harsh. So, at least the drivers get to see an old lady on the highway with a smile on her face. It’s the least I can do for the environment…lol.

      1. You only ever give out what you are within, you project you. And since that inner smile has begun it is now that part of you too. It’s even now in your eyes, you know, those people that don’t just smile…they SMILE with every part of their being. Look at the picture above, the eyes are glowing πŸ˜€ ❀️ πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ¦‹

      1. Good good … sorry about the blog comments. I’m not sure what’s up with that, but I get it from time to time on other sites too … and mostly when I’m on my iPad. Not sure if it happens accessing via the web compared to the app. Maybe I’ll pick a new theme and see if that helps.
