Thursday, myself (47), George (6) and Clay (4) were on our way back from a very pleasant afternoon at the playground.
The sun was shining we played a great game of tag with some locals and it was just about 5 o’clock….time for me to go home and time for them to see mom and dad.
The ride home from the playground is literally 7 minutes. The boys were wrestling a bit in the back of the car (very normal) and then Clay cries first. George poked him in the eye.
Clay gets angry (again very normal) and he usually retaliates with a fist or a hair pull. ( I was driving so my vision was limited)
Well today Clay decided to grab Georges Nike sneaker (a gift from his grandfather) right off his foot and throw it out the window while we are driving.
Both boys are screaming and crying and I at this point notice it is a bit more than normal. I am unaware of the missing shoe…until Clay says “George it’s really gone, I threw it out the window!”
I was trying to hide my laughter but damn I was just chuckling so hard and trying to keep it together.
I calmed both boys and let them know if they scream anymore the shoe stays on the side of the road. If they calm down and help me locate it…the drop off at home will be MUCH easier.
Well we worked together…drove very slow on a busy road and found the shoe. I parked them safely in some ones driveway and ran up the road and grabbed it.
George immediately told on Clay to mom and dad but of course I softened the blow…nobody’s perfect in this situation. There was a problem and we fixed it.
Victory!!!
Yay!!! Thank you, needed this smile.Yay!๐โค๏ธ

Ah the things that flew out my car window dear lady, if I had them all in front of me right now…I don’t think I would know whether to laugh or cry. Where were you about 40 years ago? I could have had my victory so much sooner. Great post, may there always be wings ๐ ๐คฃ

That’s funny. Glad you handled it and found the shoe, too. Maybe that’s why we see lone shoes in the road from time to time. They get thrown out the window! haha! ๐

Oh my goodness right!!! They are masters at the art of retaliation. The 6 year old will even wait for the unsuspecting 4 year old to forget his crime and then he will get him hours later!!
Iโm glad you commented I tried to get on your site the last two days and I cannot – is it under construction?? ๐๐

Got to admire their competitiveness!๐
Thatโs weird. WP acts strange sometimes. Hope it clears up soon. Not doing anything different that Iโm aware of.๐คthanks for trying! Happy writing! โSSW

Yes this worked perfect – your web address when you leave a comment to me is a little different than that one. Not sure how to change that – but Iโm happy to have the correct one – thank you ๐๐

Oh, my, you have nerves of steel, Danielle! I remember similar scenes driving my two boys around and having to stop the car to referee. Made me crazy!
