What does addiction have to do with it? 6/21

The other day I received a comment on a post that got me thinking. The person was wondering what addiction had to do with the topic that I had posted about.

Such a good comment because it made me realize not everybody knows.

Not everybody knows that EVERYTHING that I encounter in this life, every situation, problem, celebration, victory, defeat, emotional storm, relationship….everything has to do with my recovery which protects me from active addiction.

My recovery is the awareness that a higher power keeps me clean and I need to align with that power on a daily basis so I do not pick up a drink or drug.

If I am in states of anger or resentment even in confusion and sadness I am off the track. Don’t get me wrong I need the contrast to produce the solution. If I never felt off I would not know the steps to take to align myself with something that feels better.

I have learned when I am in concert, harmony and alignment with god…the world and all it’s beauty makes perfect sense.

When I see through the eyes of source there are no problems.

I need this alignment to stay clean. So I work through the muck of every day living to get there and stay there as best I can.

I do not want to go back to the hamster wheel of addiction. God and recovery make this possible.

I am a true addict living my life one day at a time in recovery. I have been substance free -meaning NO drugs or alcohol since 5/23/10. My intention is to share my experiences daily in the hopes to free others from the fears of being who they truly are. My wish is to bravely tell my truth so others can tell theirs as well. I want to be free of self hatred and doubt. I want to live a life of joy, kindness, love and grace. Thank you!

  1. You have become one wise soul..
So wise in knowing you ” need the contrast” in order for you to find the solution…
Many only see the chaos and not the beauty
My own story, nothing in comparison as to your own brave journey.
But our stories no matter what the tale, help us grow,
And we are all seeds each in need of nurturing as we expand up through our darkness into the light of love.
You dear Danielle have grown, into a beautiful graceful flower of wisdom.
Thank you for teaching others about ‘the way’… ⚘💕⚘

  2. Well, Sue said it perfectly. We all do indeed have our stuff, no two the same. You have done well Danielle, they call it the dark night of the soul for a very important reason, in going through it, it is asking us to face ourselves. Take a bow my friend, it takes great courage to do, and you’ve done it well ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
