Faith..an example 7/1

I heard this quote at least 10 years ago and it has literally walked me through some major moments of fear in my life.

I am not sure where it originated but I would love to know not only who said it….but also who knew it.

The quote: “I don’t know how to do this….but something inside of me does.”

I first used it in a recovery meeting where I was asked to stand up and share my experience in front of a room full of people.

I did not want to share. I wanted to hide in my seat under my baseball cap. When I was asked to speak I thought I was going to throw up.

Saying this quote to myself and receiving enough calm through my being that I could physically stand up and start talking was an act of faith.

I had the faith ( the belief in what I could not see) that I was going to be ok. I did not know what I was doing. I did not know what I was going to say….and boom – I got up very shaky and shared my truth.

Once I started talking the calm of god came over me. And I realized…holy shit…this is way more powerful than I had ever imagined.

I am a true addict living my life one day at a time in recovery. I have been substance free -meaning NO drugs or alcohol since 5/23/10. My intention is to share my experiences daily in the hopes to free others from the fears of being who they truly are. My wish is to bravely tell my truth so others can tell theirs as well. I want to be free of self hatred and doubt. I want to live a life of joy, kindness, love and grace. Thank you!

  1. An excitinv and beautiful memory- and empowering. God meets our faith then trumps it with more blessings than we asked for. This grows faith. You understand it from living it. So cool!😃❤️

  2. I’ve never heard that phrase, just like that, before, but I will tell you, the experience you had, and the ‘shift’ you felt, is often referred to in many spiritual AND religious works of faith, alignment, going with the flow, in the zone (pick your phraseology, and I only named a few…)

It is so prevalent, and pops up so often as I explore/learn more about various tradtions/faiths, etc., in my world? It’s labeled one of those ‘golden threads of truth that seems to run through so much of recorded/remembered human history – in one way or another –

Thus, no matter how you ‘say it’ – how it landed in ‘words’ to you?

You’re on the right track of, what I believe to be, a shared, common experience in the human condition for those who truly seek to do what is needed and open themselves to receiving the info/words/etc., on what is REALLY needed, just about now – ❤

      1. 🙂 The term/description that infers ‘alignment’/balance/clear & conductive connection sure does turn up in a variety of places for personal well being of our mind/body/heart/spirit, doesn’t it? Ahh…always, so many ‘roads to Rome’ as it were – 😀

    1. Thank you Sue ❤️ I am not sure that I had the faith in myself so much…it was more that the elders in recovery TOLD me time and time again…god will take over just start to tell your truth and god does the rest. Well I sort of believed them enough to stand up shaking and all. But then I experienced what they were talking about!
I still hate getting up and talking but at least now I do have the faith that gods giving me the words 💗 Hard lessons to learn but worth it as always 🌈
