The play 11/19

In a piece of recovery literature it gives a very good example of how most alcoholics/addicts have a skewed view of the world.

We have extreme self centeredness in our thinking…and when things don’t go OUR way then we do not know how to cope.

The example is that the alcoholic feels that he/she is the director of a play. Setting the staging the lights and even the actors.

Everyone and everything should act accordingly to how the director believes they should.

It’s trying to control life by running on self will.

When I let ALL of that go…the lights, the stage and the actors…then the beauty of god is revealed to me.

Magical things happen. Things fall into place and the play is far greater than I could have ever directed it to be.

***Note to self : Trust god Danielle…

I am a true addict living my life one day at a time in recovery. I have been substance free -meaning NO drugs or alcohol since 5/23/10. My intention is to share my experiences daily in the hopes to free others from the fears of being who they truly are. My wish is to bravely tell my truth so others can tell theirs as well. I want to be free of self hatred and doubt. I want to live a life of joy, kindness, love and grace. Thank you!
