It’s true. We are everywhere.

Some of us might be in active addiction and some of us might be in recovery.

We are in your work place, your friend groups and families.

We work in the schools, at the grocery stores and coffee shops. We pump your gas and we are your physicians.

We help others sometimes before we help ourselves.

Chances are if you are reading this…than you might struggle with an addiction yourself or you know of someone who does.

The purpose of this post is gentleness.

Not everyone who struggles with an addiction finds recovery.

Its a war within – with an infinite amount of battles – until the soul surrenders.

We hope the soul surrenders while the addict is still on earth…but that’s not always the case.

I am blessed to have surrendered while I am still here.

I am a true addict living my life one day at a time in recovery. I have been substance free -meaning NO drugs or alcohol since 5/23/10. My intention is to share my experiences daily in the hopes to free others from the fears of being who they truly are. My wish is to bravely tell my truth so others can tell theirs as well.     1. It’s funny – getting others to look at themselves seems quite difficult for some – even though all the answers are within us ❤️❤️- this might be a future post Fred – thank you 🙏

  5. I get a tickle when I see newcomers see so-and-so either qualifying or at a meeting room. Yes. People would be surprised to know our membership are everywhere. And isn’t that the goal of recovery, to be woke once again. And help others like us. We only ask folks from every race, sex, creed, religion help us do that. We are inclusive, never exclusive. In general, we recommend to people or someone they know who could benefit from our program find and go to any of our open meetings. Once, a group of co-ed interns from NYU attended a closed meeting I was at and asked if they could take notes and record, like a medical M-and-M. The chairperson recommended they go to an open meeting, but that recordings were not allowed. Be well.

    1. To bring the awareness right upfront – letting others know that it is such a predominant thing and it’s not a dirty little secret anymore. People used to whisper the word “cancer” – and now people face it head on and openly ❤️🙏❤️

  12. We all carry something in our life that keeps us from truly living. Things we need to let go of or overcome. I have several things I am working on myself. While I cannot even imagine what you’ve been through, Danielle, I see where you are today and you are a beautiful sight and an inspiration to me and so many others. ♥️

  13. Yes! Addiction has no bias. Anyone can be ravaged by the effects of addiction. Anyone. You wouldn’t know it though. I was just forced to resign from the MAT clinic where I worked for over 4 years due to stigma from a new supervisor. If the employees are stigmatized can you imagine how the clients are treated? I am working on building backlinks in the addiction recovery niche and people have been such dicks. We are supposed to be giving people hope and a feeling of connectedness. That is definitely not what’s going on behind the scenes. It’s a sad world sometimes, especially when all you want to do is help people. Nice guys/gals/other do always seem to finish last unfortunately. Great post!
