The art of sledding 1/11

This past Friday was the first real snow fall here and it was a perfect storm. The weather folk predicted it well in advance and allowed ample time for everyone to prepare.

School was cancelled so that meant I would have both the boys that I care for all day to play and go sledding.

George is 6 years old and Clay is 4. It does not get any better than this for me. They are very competitive, high energy and rambunctious. They are constantly wrestling and they remind me of 2 lion cubs out in the jungle scrapping and helping each other to grow stronger.

Sleds and kids in the car we approached Coast Guard Hill, a very large hill nearby where on a clear day you can see the ocean from the top.

I was elated, excited and living life. It was still snowing and we were totally dressed for it.

I liked the process of it all. It was quite serious business for the boys and I followed suit. This was our job for the day.

The boys made it clear to me that after we went down the hill, to walk back up on a certain side and DO NOT step on the fresh sled tracks that we made. I understood why after I saw a poor little snow suited kid get taken out by another sled as he was walking up the middle of the hill.

Clay tired first. George tormented him with snowballs to his face and then the worst…he put the snow down Clays back! Clay screamed in anger punched George with his puffy mitten which had no effect. SO then he picked up Georges sled and threw it into the bushes.

Time to go!! What a great day!

I am a true addict living my life one day at a time in recovery. I have been substance free -meaning NO drugs or alcohol since 5/23/10. My intention is to share my experiences daily in the hopes to free others from the fears of being who they truly are. My wish is to bravely tell my truth so others can tell theirs as well. I want to be free of self hatred and doubt. I want to live a life of joy, kindness, love and grace. Thank you!

    1. It already was like no other experience – i just had no words to describe it, felt sacred and just for me. This angle of the story focuses mostly on the boys πŸ’œβ€οΈβ›„οΈβ€οΈ and I definitely think I had the most fun! Ha ha πŸ’œβ›„οΈπŸ’œπŸ¦‹
